Babel received 80% of all the votes – second place went to Brazilian Lucas Leiva (15.4%). Babel had a breakthrough year with the Reds, scoring 10 goals, and finishing the season in excellent form after what some people considered a slow start for the young Dutchman. Babel is expected to play this summer for Holland in the Euro 2008.
